New Xbox launch in late 2013, software already in development

New rumors from multiple industrial sources, including chip manufacturers and middleware firms now suggest Microsoft will reveal the next Xbox at E3 2013 in June, with a late 2013 as the targeted launch timeframe.

Previous reports put the unveiling of the next Xbox in 2012 after Nintendo revealed their next generation console at E3 this year. The aftereffects of the Wii U reveal put pressure on Microsoft and Sony to move up their plans for their next gen plans. Now as the dust is settling, it’s becoming increasingly clear that 2012 reveals will be highly unlikely.

New reports are stating that first and second party developers are just beginning development on next gen titles and are at least two years out. Developers Rare, Lionhead and Turn 10 are already prototyping new games for the next gen Xbox according to the latest issue of Xbox World magazine. Turn 10, the makers of Forza, have remained on a two year schedule for their games and a late 2013 launch for Forza 5 could perfectly coincide with the release of a new console.

Xbox World magazine states that Remedy has been keeping quiet regarding a sequel to Alan Wake, because they’ve already begun development on the sequel for the next Xbox. The same goes for Fable and Rare's new "mature" game for the upcoming console. It’s rumored that these devs have already assembled small teams to begin work on the new Xbox’s future catalogue of exclusive games
THQ has also been rumored that they are already entering development for the console with Saints Row 4 (perhaps using Red Faction’s GeoMod tech). Although this shouldn’t come as a surprise since it took five years between Saints Row 2 and 3.
Treyarch, the makers of Call of Duty: Black Ops have also joined the next gen development rumor mill. A new job listing was posted recently and since taken down, that  called for a senior software engineer to join a team 'bringing our hugely successful game to a new console.' Call Of Duty series was not mentioned by name, but Treyarch has only worked on Duty games the last 5 years.
Microsoft has yet to confirm any rumors on their next Xbox. This new timeframe does coincide with previous reports stating the next generation of Xbox and Playstation brands would launch around the predicted blastoff of Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 in 2014, since many next gen games will use its assets.
Based on these new reports, a 2013 reveal with a late 2013 launch coincides with Microsoft’s past launches. The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the E3. The console was released later that year on November 22, 2005.  -TNGG
