The two clips below are from the first half hour of the game in order not to spoil any moments later in the game. They give you a taste of the epicness of God of War 3 and try to convey the fact that this is no mere cash-in sequel. God of War 3 is the real deal.
This clip may be nine minutes long, but it accurately conveys the grand scale of the game. Many game developers have been trying to make a tru interactive movie/game for generations with mixed results. This is what our kid minds were dreaming about when we played our first videogame. For those of us who started with Atari, NES, Super NES, Genesis or even PS1, to believe we would one day play a game of this magnitude is astounding.
Tru Next Gen Boss Battle: Poseidon
Boss fights have come a long way in 20 years. In order to truly show this, watch a quick clip of the Poseidon boss battle in Soul Blazer (1992) on the SNES.
Now watch the Poseidon boss battle in God of War 3 and prepare to be in awe. This is what a Tru Next Gen Game looks like.
Sure when you break it down the essence of the game play is similar, but no matter how powerful of a console the gamer still has to move a character around onscreen and attack the foe. Until Kinect truly goes next gen, the basis of gameplay will always have common aspects.
